Taryn joined Edufundi in July 2014. She has twelve years' experience in the development sector in South Africa and five years of teaching experience abroad. Prior to joining Edufundi, she worked for the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation to expand educational opportunities for disadvantaged learners by funding high quality education projects, with measurable impact. She started her work in the development sector as a senior project associate at ECIAfrica Consulting. Taryn's qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in English and Psychology, an Honours and an MPhil in Development Studies from the University of Cape Town. Furthermore, she holds a TEFL qualification and a Yoga Alliance certification and she is also a qualified ASTAR (Awakening Spirit through Art) facilitator. Taryn sits on the board of two NGOs; The ASTAR Project (TAP) and the Earthchild Project.
Tia has been a member of the Edufundi team since 2001. Starting as a personal assistant, she has grown with the project and has been instrumental in the advancement of all aspects of Edufundi projects gaining extensive knowledge and experience in the non-profit field. Tia has twenty years' of experience in administration, design, accountancy and advanced computer skills. Previous work history includes experience in public relations, graphic design and marketing. Tia discovered a passion for exercise in October 2015 and started her own part-time business offering fitness classes. She has since obtained diplomas in Group Personal Training (NQF4), Personal Training (NQF5) as well as Metafit, MetaPRO and MetaPWR instructor qualification.
Dorinda has been with Edufundi since 2010 and is responsible for mentor co-ordination and administration, as well as event co-ordination, with a particular focus on our Lead Like a Champion project. She works closely with the mentor support team to ensure our mentors are fully supported to carry out their daily work. She has completed courses in Advanced MS Office, Introduction to personal Computers, Business Administration and Secretarial and Play based learning (birth to Grade 3).
Nwabisa joined our team as an intern in February 2016 and has since taken on a permanent role. In 2015 Nwabisa was a volunteer on our LiteraSEA Project, which aimed to improve the literacy levels of Grade 2 learners at Intshinga Primary. During this time she learnt valuable skills such as public speaking, leadership, self-management, negotiation skills, storytelling and how to work with children. Nwabisa is able to offer first-hand insight to the project and the community. She studied a Business Administration course and has previous experience as an intern at Fezeka Municipality.
Robin started working with Edufundi in 2018 as a monitoring and evaluation consultant. She specializes in G-Suite data management systems for NPOs. Robin holds a Master’s Degree in M&E from the University of Cape Town and has ten years' of experience working as an M&E practitioner.
Jennifer joined the Edufundi team in August 2018 to assist in developing the various communications platforms. She specialises in marketing and communications for NPOs and holds a BA (Hons) in Photography from the Arts University in Bournemouth in the UK. Jennifer has 11 years' experience working in the non-profit sector, eight of those in the marketing and communications field. She has gained multiple professonal development certificates from Red & Yellow Creative School of Business and is also a graphic designer and photographer.
Rinchen joined the Edufundi team in July 2019 in a part-time position to assist with working on the organisation’s communications platforms. She holds a BA (Hons) in Social Development and since graduating in 2018 she has worked in a number of educational organisations and currently also serves on a volunteer basis in community initiatives promoting art and literacy within under resourced communities.
