Creating Supportive Classrooms

Creating supportive and constructive environments is a key part of what Edufundi develops in our schools.

Through the Edufundi Support Programme, we encourage teachers and school management teams to create these supportive environments – for themselves, for the school itself, and for the learners too.

This was exemplified in our recent visit to Encotsheni Primary with Ms Voyiya, a Grade 4 teacher.

Although not long into her teaching career, Ms Voyiya has embraced the Edufundi Support Programme and its techniques with both hands – and her efforts can clearly be seen. From the positive relationship she has with each and every learner, to the continual support and praise she (and the class) give each other, her teaching spirit shines!

What stood out was that even before a learner gets to the front of the class to complete the question or task, the class already supports that learner with clicks and positivity. When the learner is done speaking, the rest of the class claps to congratulates them!

Each learner is given the confidence to fulfill their potential because they know Ms Voyiya and their peers are with them every step of the way.
