“Building a Mindset that Matters” – Investing in Growth and Resilience in the Classroom

Victoria Primary School | Teacher Development Workshop

Edufundi was honoured to return to Victoria Primary School for a dynamic teacher development workshop titled “Building a Mindset that Matters”, facilitated by our Intermediate Phase Mentor, Ms Pamala Naicker. The session focused on equipping teachers with practical tools to foster a growth mindset — both in themselves and in their learners.

This renewed invitation reflects the trust Victoria Primary continues to place in the Teach Like a Champion programme. Having previously partnered with the school through mentorship, many of the current educators have successfully integrated the programme’s evidence-based strategies into their daily teaching. This workshop served as both a refresher and a powerful step forward for new staff and the broader team.

Through interactive activities, collaborative discussions, and scenario-based reflection, Ms Naicker challenged participants to shift from fixed perspectives to more adaptable, learner-focused approaches. Her emphasis on resilience, motivation, and self-belief resonated strongly with attendees — reinforcing that mindset is a foundational element of learner success.

This focus on teacher growth and resilience reflects priorities shared across South Africa’s education landscape, where teacher professional development is recognised as a key driver of improved learner outcomes. By supporting educators to grow, adapt and lead with confidence, schools like Victoria Primary strengthen their capacity to provide consistent, high‑quality learning for every child.
