Sifunimfundo Primary School
Set deep in the hills of the sprawling township of Inanda, just north of Durban, lies an institution of hope called Sifunimfundo Primary School. Translated into English, “Sifunimfundo” means “we want to learn”. This primary school is a beacon of hope for the hundreds of learners that it serves. This remarkable establishment, which opened its doors in 1990, provides a warm and cheerful atmosphere for its 842 learners. The well-being of their learners is of paramount importance to the staff of this school.
Education is key
The Sifunimfundo team – both school management and educators – believe that ‘education is key’ and ‘learn while there is still light’. By focusing on teacher and learner development, they are heading in the direction of a brighter tomorrow. Their tenacity and determination to succeed, amidst all odds is indeed commendable.
The growth, development and empowerment of educators is crucial in improving learner performance. The entire team strives towards learning new skills and techniques, which supports excellent teaching and learning, and also strives towards making teaching more fun and joyful. They looked at our partnership with them ‘as lending a hand’ to provide practical and sustainable solutions, which will help teaching become less challenging and more effective.
Embracing the Edufundi Support Programme
Sifunimfundo has embraced the Edufundi programme with an open mind. They are always receptive to the possibilities of new opportunities, fresh ideas and diverse teaching and learning strategies. They view their partnership with Edufundi as a springboard to greater achievement.
Having felt so welcomed at the school makes it clear that we are all working together towards a shared vision. Their learners have a love for learning, a thirst for knowledge and are well prepared to reach their full potential.
It is truly rewarding for us as the Edufundi team, to witness the fervour with which they have embraced this partnership.
